Hey guys! Welcome back. I know it’s not Monday and this is technically a beauty post, but it’s a first impressions post, so I think it’s okay. Plus I have so many beauty posts planned that I feel like I will never get to doing impressions and reviews. So I decided since I have so many new products coming in I would do bonus posts so you guys can have my thoughts immediately. I did do a wear test on this foundation today and I am going to give you my first impression and my review on how it wore. If you want a more in-depth review leave a comment letting me know.

This is the Essence Fresh & Fit Awake Make Up. It claims to be a medium coverage foundation enriched with a vitamin complex and cranberry water. It is $6.99 on their website. They only have four shades. It is a liquid foundation, it is matte, and it is a cruelty-free product. And with that we just jump right in.

First off I will say it is a nice foundation. All of the things I am going to mention could be true with any foundation and there are worse ones out there. This is going to be a completely honest post though so you can decide if it’s worth it. Keep in mind it is a $7 foundation, and you can’t really beat that most of the time. The cheapest foundation I have found that is actually decent is the Wet n’ Wild Photo Focus Foundation which is only $5. Because this is such a cheap foundation, I didn’t have high expectations, but I am going to tell you what I like and what I don’t like about this product.

I’ll start out with something I like. It is only $7. As I said before, it’s hard to beat that. Most foundations are at least $10. So I think the price is good and it definitely is good to try if you are on a budget. That being said, there are only four shades. It’s really hard to find your shade, especially if you are shopping online. I bought the third shade and it only kind of matched me. It does oxidize a lot. I mean it was dark. But having a light concealer and a powder that matches your skin tone will help even it out if you get a shade that is too dark.

When I first applied it I really liked the way my skin looked. It looked very natural and fresh. It was dark, but I fixed it with concealer and powder. However, this is a matte foundation and I have dry skin. So by the end of the day it wasn’t looking so great on my skin anymore. One thing that is really great is it stayed on all day. Well for the past six hours. I will have to try it again when I go out to see how it wears in the sun. But it is clinging to all of my dry patches. I mean all of them. Most foundations I can put on some moisturizer and that’s all I need as a base. I put on moisturizer, primer water, and primer under this foundation and it still looks very dry.

It is definitely a medium coverage foundation, but you can build it up to a full coverage finish if that’s the kind of coverage you like. I really appreciate foundations that are versatile because you can alter the coverage a little more. I will say it is a light weight formula. It doesn’t feel like I’m wearing foundation that much. It does look a little cakey around my super intense dry areas. If you have dry skin, I definitely recommend applying this foundation with a beauty sponge. It will help even out the finish and make it a little less matte.

If this is important to you, you might like to know it does smell great. It’s not like a perfume-scent, but it doesn’t smell bad either. It comes in a nice glass bottle with a pump and a cap. It is travel-friendly, I would say.

In terms of recommending this foundation, I don’t know if I can just yet. I think I need to try it a few more times to really get a feel of what I think and if I can recommend it. I don’t want to recommend a product that I’m not completely sure of. However, it is only $7 and based on what I have said here if you feel compelled to try I say go for it. But if you are on the fence I would say hold off for my real review. If you want me to compare this with the Wet n’ Wild Photo Focus Foundation let me know in the comments. They are around the same price point and you know I love the Photo Focus Foundation.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let me know in the comments if you have tried this foundation and what your thoughts are. Feel free to leave any questions in the comments as well. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
