Hey guys! Welcome back. This post is all about using your planner and making sure that you keep using it. There are a ton of posts about how to get organized, but not many on how to keep being organized throughout the semester. So that is what this post is going to be on. If you have any other tips be sure to let us know in the comments.

1. Choose the right planner for you.

It all begins with choosing a planner you really like and that is going to be used. Sometimes this means you have to spend a little more. But if you aren’t going to use it, there really isn’t a point in getting one. Pick one that speaks to you and that you find motivating to use.

2. Fill in any permanent due dates.

This will at least ensure that you look at it to see when these things are. Fill in any dates so that you know when breaks are, special events, and when classes are cancelled. This way you have them all in one place.

3. Write your assignments down.

Your syllabi will provide these, but keeping them in your planner will keep them all in one place and prevent you from missing one. Assign each class with a colored pen and you will be able to see which assignment is for which class. This will make your life so much easier.

4. Set weekly goals and daily steps to reach them.

There should be a place in your planner to set goals. If not, at the beginning of the week write them in on Saturday or Sunday and each day have a step or steps written. This will keep you organized because you will have actions planned.

5. Keep track of upcoming assignments.

Don’t just check daily assignments, but be sure you are also working on papers or projects that are coming so you aren’t doing it all the day before it’s due. Check a week or two weeks in advance so you have plenty of time.

6. Practice Time Management.

This is something your planner can help you with because you can plan ahead and learn to give yourself enough time to do things. You will know everything you have coming up. You will learn how to pace yourself and time management will seem so much easier.

7. Make It Fun And Positive.

There is nothing worse than a boring planner with a bunch of due dates. So dress it up a little and make it fun. This is another reason why colored pens are a must!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope this is helpful the entire semester. Please like it if you find these tips useful. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
