Hey guys! Welcome back. As many of you know I have recently started taking self care more seriously. I think it is extremely important to take care of every part of our being. I used to just go until I couldn’t go anymore, but I realized that was starting to have very damaging effects on my body and mind. So I started taking self care seriously and making sure that I was recharging so I could keep going.
I used to get really massive headaches and I would always be exhausted. I would always be complaining about it and getting upset because I didn’t want to be sick. But then I realized that I have a choice in the matter. So I started learning when it was time to step back. I learned that I am in control of my time and what I do with it. So I would get my stuff done, but I would also allow myself to take care of myself and give myself much needed breaks.
I learned that it is really important to sleep even if you have a million things to do. If your body isn’t resting as much as it needs, there is no point in trying to accomplish anything else. You won’t be able to function at your best. I learned that I need to eat and sleep. I need the basic things. It shouldn’t be a surprise, but so many people neglect even their most basic needs.
But I learned that I like taking care of myself. I like being about to do what I need to do, but also take care of what my body needs. It’s all about balance. It’s all about not taking on too many commitments. It’s about listening to my body and knowing what I need and what is best for me. If that means making sacrifices, that is what I will do. I know self care is important.
That is why for me, self care in non-negotiable. I know I have to do it. Like working out, eating, sleeping, and anything else I need, I know I need to make it a priority. I have to take care of myself so I can keep going longer. I don’t like to get burned out. I don’t like having fatigue and anxiety. So I need the proper fuel to keep me going.
I challenge you to make self care non-negotiable as well. It is really essential as humans that we take care of all parts of our bodies and our health. It’s the only way to be able to keep doing the things we want. So find ways to fit self care into your daily routine. Eat, sleep, and allow yourself to take breaks. Don’t try to go until you can’t anymore. You will run out faster.
