Hey guys! Welcome back. This is something that I have wanted to talk about for quite a while, but never knew how. But today I decided that I am going to share it. Going off to college for the first time four years ago was exciting. I couldn’t wait to move away and hopefully finally start to be happy. And it all happened so fast. Before I knew it I was changing. I was growing into a better, well-rounded person.

So when I came back for the first time after leaving, I had a hard time adjusting. I was the first person in my family to go to college, so I didn’t have anyone telling me that it would be so different. But it was. My college was nearly seven hours away so it was months before I really came home to visit.

On my way back home, I had expected everything to be different. I thought there would be drastic changes from when I left. I thought everything was going look different. But what I didn’t realize is that nothing changed at home. It was me who had changed. Everything felt so different because I was different. I didn’t see that place the same way I had before.

I thought I would get used to it and that strange feeling would go away. But it didn’t. It always comes back. And I came to understand that it’s because I continue to grow as a person. I continue to outgrow the place where I grew up. But I’ve learned how to prepare myself for it and I know what to expect. I know it’s going to be difficult because I am facing so much.

So if you are experiencing a similar thing, I hope you know you’re not alone. That stinging feeling you get in the pit of your stomach is real and it’s common. You might experience it again. But that only means that you are learning and growing. You aren’t the same person you were before and that is altogether a good thing.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let me know in the comments if you have every experienced this and what you did to deal with it. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

This post is so relatable! As you said, it definitely makes the experience more bearable if you keep in mind that many people have felt this way before. It’s normal to outgrow a place, even if it’s your home, and I feel like it’s a sign of healthy personal development 🙂.
