Hey guys! Welcome back. One of the most challenging lessons that I have learned in my adult life is that discontentment follows you. I used to think that I would be happy when certain things happened or that I would finally be satisfied when I got to a certain point, but that’s just not the case. I have learned that I am just as discontent in the bad times as I am in the the good times. Because the reality is, discontentment follows you. It doesn’t just evaporate when you get what you want.

The good times and our accomplishments often hide the discontentment. But the thing about hiding something is just because it can’t be seen doesn’t mean it’s not there. The discontent does not disappear just because you learn to mask it or you cover it up by being happy. Discontentment remains throughout all the good times.

I always thought that I would be content when I started college. Then it was when I made friends. Then it was when I got the job I really wanted. But looking back, I realize that through all of that I was discontent. I was discontent because I was holding people and things in my heart that I needed to let go. I was holding myself back by keeping in all of the negativity and all of the hurt.

What I have learned along the way is that discontentment follows you. But that doesn’t mean you can never be content. Because the truth is, it’s always a choice. You have to learn to find joy in the journey. You have to learn that contentment is not a destination, it is a feeling. Your happiness is not determined by where you are or what you have. It is determined by you making the most of everyday you get to live.

You will never get today back, so make the most of it while you can. Tomorrow is a new day for you to continue on your journey. You decide how you feel. You decide if you are content or not. You can mask the symptoms all day, but that doesn’t mean that they go away. They only disappear when you learn to let go of the things that don’t make you happy and find the joy in everyday life.

You won’t be happy when x happens and y won’t make you content. You have to learn to enjoy the journey and find happiness with where you are and who you are. Only then can you truly be content. Life is going to bring you struggles and disappointment. But that doesn’t mean it will last forever. Learn to love you life as it right now.
