So today I wanted to give you a few ways to tell if you are actually doing better than you think you are. These signs will help you recognize your growth and progress so you can see that you really are doing alright. So here are ten signs that you are doing better than you think you are.
1. You are handling things much differently that you would have in the past.
Knowing how you handled things in the past can really help with seeing how much you have grown. If you are handling situations, relationships, and stress better than you have before, you are doing better. It’s a clear sign that you are growing as a person and becoming more comfortable and confident.
2. You are becoming more self-aware of the thoughts and feelings that you are struggling with.
Being able to recognize what you are feeling is a huge sign that you are growing. Because if you once pushed away those feelings and just buried them, but now you are recognizing and acknowledging them, you know that you are growing. It’s important to be aware of your thoughts and feelings so you can better work through them.
3. You’re moving forward in spite of how you feel.
Moving forward is something that is not always an easy thing to do. However, if you are moving forward despite the fear or worry, you are doing a lot better than you think you are. Change is not something we are typically comfortable with, but if you allow yourself to move forward, you are growing.
4. You’re giving yourself the space to start over.
Sometimes it’s best to just start over. But sometimes we don’t allow ourselves the opportunity to do so. By giving yourself the space to start over, you are allowing yourself to recognize the past and let it go. Letting it go allows you to move on and create a fresh start where you have complete control.
5. You’re more aware of your triggers.
Everyone has triggers. Whether it is something that scares you, makes you sad, or makes you angry, everyone has them. It is important to know what they are so you can better control them when they come up. If you do this and you are able to understand what makes you tick, you are doing okay.
6. You have a better idea of the boundaries you need to set to put yourself on a better path.
Setting boundaries is one of the things that is most difficult for people. However, if you set boundaries and make yourself a priority, things are likely to start looking up. So if you have boundaries and have an understanding of what you need, you have a pretty good situation going on.
7. You’re seeking support even when it feels shameful and scary.
Knowing when you need to ask for help is a big part of personal growth. Therefore, finding that help even when you feel embarrassed or worried shows that you are growing and recognize that you can’t do it alone. That is a big sign that you are doing better than you otherwise might believe.
8. You’re using your experience to help someone.
Instead of giving in to pity and self-loathing, you use your experiences and stories to help others. This is a great sign that things are better than you think they are. You recognize that you are not the only person going through things and you want to help other people. That is a sign of empathy and growth.
9. You realize that you are a work in progress.
No one is perfect and you will never be perfect. So if you can recognize that and know that you will always need to work on it, you are doing a lot better than you think. Perfectionism won’t get you anywhere and you are wasting your time trying to get there. Just live your life and enjoy it while you can.
10. You’re choosing to learn more about yourself instead of hiding your true self.
The more secure and confident you are with yourself, the better off you will be. So it’s really important to not try to cover up who you are, but rather keep exploring and getting to know more about yourself. The more you learn and portray, the better others will know you as well.
