Hey guys! Welcome back. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I know how difficult it can be to fall asleep at night. So today I wanted to share some general tips that can help anyone fall asleep faster at night. These are things that I have found help me fall asleep more quickly and stay asleep at night. Hopefully they will also help you. So here are seven hacks to help you fall asleep faster.
1. Exercise regularly.
Exercising on a more regular basis has really helped me with my sleep patterns. Working out during the day helps me get out a lot of energy I have built up. That helps me at night because I don’t have as much energy and I can relax more and fall asleep faster than I otherwise would have.
2. Unwind one hour before bed.
I always make sure I put away any work and anything that needs to be done on a computer at least one hour before I plan to go to bed. This helps me relax and unwind before I get into bed. Because I know if I go straight from working to bed, my mind won’t have a chance to slow down and I will stay awake with all of my thoughts.
3. Listen to calming music.
Calming music always helps calm me and helps me rest at night. It helps me focus on something much more soothing so I’m not worrying or having anxious thoughts. I have a soothing playlist that I try to listen to before or while I am in bed. It just gives me a chance to really have a calming moment.
Reading really helps me when I am trying to sleep because I really enjoy reading. Having a great book to look forward to reading right before bed helps me not only calm myself, but it’s also a great way to make sure I am reading. Because so often we say we don’t read because we don’t have the time.
5. Set a bed time.
Going to bed at the same time every night really is a great way to help you start falling asleep faster. Because if you are going to bed at a consistent time every night, your body will start to pick up on the fact that it is time to go to sleep. So you will automatically start feeling more tired around that time.
6. Cut out caffeine.
For most of us, caffeine is something we use to wake us up and give us energy. So if you are trying to fall asleep faster at night, it is a good idea to cut out caffeine at least two hours before going to bed. That way you have time to burn the energy that you have so you can actually fall asleep.
7. Use an eye mask.
Eye masks help hydrate your eyes and believe it or not, I have found that having hydrated under eyes actually helps me sleep better. Even just an eye cream helps me because my skin doesn’t feel as dehydrated and my eyes don’t feel as heavy. So it really helps me fall asleep faster.
