Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week so far! Today I wanted to share with you a few ways that you can be more mindful everyday. These are some relatively easy things that you can do to be more present and more aware of the things that are going on in your daily life. Hopefully this inspires you to pay more attention and try to be more mindful. So here are seven ways you can incorporate this in your daily life and beyond.
1. Eat without distraction.
One of the biggest reasons that we eat too much is that we are distracted while we are eating. This could be while we work, while we talk with a friend, or while we watch TV. We also like to have meetings at restaurants or over food. This becomes an issue when it becomes a habit and we aren’t really paying attention to what we are eating. Therefore, if you want to be more mindful, I recommend minimizing the time you eat while you are distracted and see how much of an improvement happens.
2. Minimize multitasking.
Multitasking seems really productive, but in all actuality, it is really counter-productive. Because the more things you are working on the longer it will take you to complete any one task. Therefore, minimizing the time you spend multitasking can help you get tasks done at a faster pace so you can move on to other things. It also helps you stay focused on one thing and makes sure that you are giving all your time and energy to that task so you do your very best.
3. Genuinely listen to others.
So often we listen to speak, not listen to really hear what the other person is saying. We are just waiting for our next turn to speak. Therefore, when it comes to our daily lives, we should challenge ourselves to really listen to the people we have conversations with and pay attention to what they are saying. This helps us cultivate better relationships and expand our understandings.
4. Do a brain dump.
It’s easy to forget all the things we need to do in a day. So I really like brain dumping my tasks for the next day the night before. This allows me to make sure I don’t forget anything and allows me to know what I need to really focus on. This prevents procrastination and ensures that I am following my plan. I am able to prioritize and focus on what is important. I also like to brain dump anything that I am feeling, questions I have, and ideas I have. This gets them out of my head and I can return to them when I am ready.
5. Get outside.
I really enjoy walking around outside, especially when the sun is shining. It helps me relax and relieve some stress. It helps me unwind and take in some fresh air. This helps me get back to what I need to do more relaxed and focused. This helps me be more mindful and pay attention to the things I really need to focus on. This is one of my favorite ways to take breaks.
6. Embrace your body.
It is important to take care of your body and make sure you are giving it what it needs. So take some time to be mindful of what your body is telling you it needs. Don’t overwork yourself, but make sure that you are getting done what you need to get done. It will help you later on. It prevents you from unnecessary stress and overload. Just listen to your body.
7. Have quiet time.
Whether you meditate, journal, read, or another activity that helps you, having quiet time is another great way to relax. Relaxing boosts your ability to be mindful so that quiet time can help you do just that. Find your favorite way to spend quiet time and allow yourself to really focus on that at the beginning or end of everyday. You will be surprised of what it can do for you.
