Hey guys! Welcome back. It is no secret that I struggle with anxiety and I know many of you do as well. So today I wanted to talk about some qualities that I think are important to look for in a person when you struggle with any level of anxiety. These are just things that are the most important to me and I wanted to share them with you. Hopefully it inspires to create your own qualities that you need in a person. Because we all have things we need in a partner with or without having anxiety. So here are the qualities I look for in a partner.
They are understanding.
It is important for me for to have a person that is understanding. Struggling with anxiety is a very difficult thing, so it is important to have someone who can understand that there will be good days and there will be bad days. It’s all about knowing that you have someone who will help you get through and keep working to get better.
They are comforting.
The bad days come and some days they are really bad. So for me, it is important to have a partner who can comfort me when I need it the most. Someone who can bring me back to reality and remind me that I am safe and I am loved. It’s important for me to know that there is someone who is always on my side.
They gently challenge you.
For me, it is important to have someone who always pushes me to be better. Not in a “get over it” kind of way, but in a “everyday is a chance to take a step forward” kind of way. I am not always motivated to push myself to get there, so having a partner who can challenge me is a great step forward.
They aren’t afraid to communicate.
As someone who struggles with anxiety it is important for me to have someone who is willing to communicate with me in the good times and the bad. Because I am the kind of person who needs to know what is going on as much as possible. Otherwise, I just worry to the point of no return and it’s really not a good head space to be in.
Someone who stays during difficult times.
I am a pretty difficult person to deal with sometimes. But also, just knowing that no relationship is easy or perfect is enough to remind me that I need someone who can stay strong in the pitfalls of our relationship. Not someone who will shut me out and not want to communicate what is happening.
Someone who won’t take things personally.
I like to talk about my feelings. It’s how I work through things. So I need a partner who won’t shut down or get offended when I say there is something I need or want. Or when I start talking about insecurities or doubts that I have. I need someone who is secure and is willing to work through things and not get defensive.
Those are the qualities that I look for in a partner. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did.
