Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week! We talk a lot about goals here at Love, Geeky Girl and how you can reach those goals. So today I wanted to talk about a specific area of goals that often gets looked over. And those are our health goals. When life gets chaotic and hectic, our health is typically one of the first things that gets put on the back burner. Whether it is mental health, physical health, spiritual health, or whatever else, at least one part of our health is pushed to the side. So today I am going to share with you five tips for how you can stay on top of your health goals no matter how crazy life gets.

1. Do it for you.

The first tip I have for you is to do it for yourself. Don’t do it because you are reading this. Don’t do it because someone else has made a comment. Don’t do it because you want to be like everyone else. Do it for you. That’s the only way you can really stay motivated. Other people can motivate you for a split second, but it’s up to you to find the desire and the willpower to keep going. Whatever form of health you need to take care of, do it because you have the desire, not because you feel like someone is forcing you.

2. Do what you enjoy.

Find exercises that you like doing. Find self care practices that you really enjoy doing and that work for you. Do the things that work for you. It may take some trial and error, but you will learn along the way. Just keep trying new things. Doing what you enjoy is a great way to motivate yourself and continue to have that willpower. Forcing yourself to get up at 6:00 in the morning to do something you hate is not likely to keep happening. It has to be something you really want to do.

3. Give yourself grace.

No one is perfect, especially in the beginning. So if you have a setback or you struggle a little bit, know that it’s okay. Just get back up and keep pushing forward. And remember if you give up, you will just go right back to the beginning. So be patient with yourself. Let yourself make mistakes and learn from them. Keep up with what works and what does not work. You are more likely to keep going if you just get back up because starting is always the hardest part.

4. Look beyond the scale.

Your health is much more than just a number on the scale. You have to make sure you are taking care of all aspects of your health. Your physical well-being, your emotional and mental well-being, your spiritual well-being, and so much more. It is important to make sure you aren’t just trying to get to a certain number on the scale, but that you are also looking at all aspects of your health. Make sure you are taking time to focus on everything and giving yourself enough time so you aren’t overwhelmed.

5. Don’t wait for the “When I’s…”

Something I say all the time is “When I __________ I will _______________.” But that is a pretty negative way of looking at life. The time to start doing things is now. The time to live life and take advantage of every opportunity is now. Life is never going to be perfect, and neither are you. So you might as well make the most of every moment and just live your life. If you want to do something, do it. Don’t wait for the perfect moment because that moment is now.
