Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week. Today I wanted to share with you how I finally stopped impulse buying. It used to be a really bad habit that I had. I was not good at saving money. I did open an account where a portion of my paycheck would go into and that saved me some money. However, what didn’t go into that account I would spend quickly and then not have anymore. So I started working to quit this habit and today I want to share with you how I did it, so maybe this will help you too.

Make a budget and stick to it.

Having a budget for every week has really helped me a lot. I am the kind of person who needs a lot of structure and discipline. I am a very routine-oriented person. So I have found that having a budget really helps me control how much money I am spending and what I am spending it on.

Treat yourself with planned purchases.

A coffee every Wednesday is how I typically treat myself. But that’s only if I haven’t bought one since the Wednesday before. I try to save the rest of my money for other things that I may need or save it for a future purchase. If there is something I want, I save money each week until I can afford it. It keeps me from overspending all at once.

Focus on your financial goals.

My biggest financial goal is to get out of debt. So that is what i remind myself when I am tempted to spend money on something I don’t really need. I stop myself from buying just anything. There needs to be a reason for it. My financial goals keep me motivated to keep working and saving.

Stick to a waiting period.

I usually give myself one week. If a week comes around and I am still thinking about something or haven’t changed my mind about it, I will consider saving for it. However, if I don’t think it’s worth it or it’s not something I feel I could use at the moment I won’t even bother with it.

Unsubscribe and unfollow.

All of those makeup sites and clothing stores I had to unfollow on social media. I had to unsubscribe from email lists. It prevented me from constantly thinking about it and constantly seeing it. And if they do pop up I know I can’t buy it just because I see it. This keeps me from buying every new thing that comes out.

Shop online for necessities.

When it comes to the basic things I like to buy them online. Toiletries, household items, some food, and more I shop online for. This keeps me from walking down aisles and buying things just because I want them. If I am shopping online I can just search what I am looking for and move on.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments how you stopped impulse buying if you have also experienced this. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
