Hey guys! Welcome back. 2020 is less than a week away, so it’s time to start preparing. And you can do that in more ways than one. One of the best ways to get ready for the new year is to start decluttering and getting rid of the things you don’t need or want anymore. So I have come up with a list of things to declutter to start your year off with a fresh start!

Anything you have been meaning to donate.

If you have a box or bag of things you have been meaning to donate but haven’t got around to it yet, now is the perfect time. Go ahead and donate all the stuff that is sitting around ready to be sent away. This gives you more space to go through the rest of your stuff and decide what you want to keep and what you can let go of.

“Just In Case” Items.

We all have old paperwork, receipts, phones, chargers, and other things that are just sitting around and taking up space because we keep them in case we might need them. The chances of actually needing them in the future are slim. Obviously keep the important documents, but don’t keep random things you know you aren’t likely to use.

Clothes and accessories you don’t wear.

We all have clothing and accessories that we hold on to even though we know we don’t wear them and aren’t likely to wear them more than a couple more times. So go through your clothes and accessories and get rid of the ones that don’t fit, you don’t wear anymore, or that you forgot you even had in the first place.

Cleaning items.

If you have cleaning supplies that are old, worn out, expired, or dried out, get rid of them. Dried up disinfectant wipes are no good. Old sponges that are super dirty won’t benefit you very much. Get rid of all the stuff that is no good anymore and if needed go buy some fresh stuff.

That’s right. It’s time to go through your food. Get rid of the stuff that has expired, gone bad, you won’t eat, and that you know you don’t need. Plenty of places are taking donations so you can drop off what is still good if you know you won’t eat it. Discard the rest of it and you will have more space.

Office supplies.

If you are anything like me you have plenty of pens, markers, notebooks, and more. And the truth is, you don’t need it all. Trust me, you really don’t. Start by getting rid of the pens that are dried up or don’t work anymore. Move forward from there. Get rid of the supplies that are unnecessary.

Old toiletries.

From old lotions to makeup you will never use, it’s time to let go of all of those items in your bathroom that are just taking up space. Shampoos and conditioners that don’t work for you anymore. Anything that has expired or you have had for years. Get rid of the things you only touch when you move them to clean.

Your laptop.

Take some time to go through your laptop or desktop and clean up your files. Delete pictures you don’t need, documents you don’t need, and even your search history. Your computer will work better and you will have more space for the important things that you want to store.

Your social media.

Who you follow and what you see on your social media really does affect you. So take some time to go through all of your social media accounts and unfollow people you don’t see the value in following. You get to have some control over what you see, so choose wisely and choose positivity.

And that’s it! Those are my suggestions for what to declutter before the new year! Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments what you are decluttering for 2020. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
