Hey guys! Welcome back. I think most of us, if not all of us, have had relationships with people who weren’t all that great. Whether it’s a romantic partner, a “friend”, or a family member, we all have people in our lives who are just not great for us. So today I thought I would share some signs that it is time to cut someone out of your life. Of course, it’s important to remember that if a person does one of these things it may not necessarily be grounds for cutting it off. However, if it is a pattern or you notice multiple signs, it is time to consider cutting them out.

1. They put their feelings first.

People who are toxic and selfish will typically put their own feelings before yours or anyone else’s. It makes it difficult to have a healthy and stable relationship with that person because you feel as though you are not being heard or you can’t work through your problems.

2. You don’t like hanging out with them anymore.

It probably goes without saying that you shouldn’t have a relationship with someone you don’t even want to be around. That only causes more problems and might cause you to be more unhappy and resentful. If you don’t like being around a person, just know that you don’t have to be.

3. They make you feel bad more than they make you feel good.

Someone who is negative in your life and causes you a lot of stress and unhappiness is likely going to make you feel bad far more often that they make you feel good. So if you find that you are around someone who is always making you feel bad or putting you down, consider letting them go.

4. You can’t trust them.

Trust is a huge part of any relationship and it is one of the biggest factors of keeping it going. If someone has broken your trust or you feel as though you can no longer trust them, it’s not a good relationship to be in. We all need people in our lives who make us feel safe and cared for, not the opposite.

5. They no longer offer support.

Life is difficult and sometimes we struggle. One of the biggest things that keeps us going is having a support system. If there is someone in your life who isn’t being a good part of that support system, they are likely making things more difficult and you may need to cut ties with them.

6. They always make some excuses.

Whether it is why they can’t see you or why they did something that was wrong or hurt you, if you find that they are always making excuses or blaming things on you, that is not the kind of person or energy that you want in your life. It is time to let go of that and surround yourself with different people.

7. You argue a lot.

People argue. It is a part of all relationships. However, you should not argue all the time. You shouldn’t have a relationship with someone who is constantly trying to fight with you. You shouldn’t argue every time you sit in the same room or try to have a conversation about anything.

8. They try to manipulate you.

Manipulation is one of the biggest signs that someone should not be a part of your life. It’s important to be able to see when and how someone is trying to manipulate you. If you are always walking on eggshells or you are always afraid of the person, this person should not be in your life.

9. You give and get nothing in return.

Relationships of any kind require a lot of give and take. And if you feel you are always giving, but never taking, it’s a sign of a bad relationship. It is important to know that you deserve happiness and people who care about you. And if you aren’t getting anything from someone, it’s a sign that they don’t really care.

10. They are always negative.

Some people are just negative by nature. They can’t help it. But if you find that a person is negative no matter what and nothing you ever do seems to be right, then they don’t appreciate you or value you. You should move on and find people who do see the value in what you do.
