Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week so far. If you have been around for the past few weeks you might remember that I have mentioned a couple of times that I am in a new relationship. And some of you might remember that last year I was in a different relationship that didn’t work out. So I didn’t date for a while after I ended the previous relationship. There was one guy for about two weeks, but it never really went anywhere and we stopped talking. So I had a lot of time for myself and time to get myself ready for a new relationship and I wanted to share with you what I did and what I have been doing in this early stage of my relationship to be more open to what’s to come down the line if anything.

Be patient.

One of the biggest things I made sure to do this time around is to not rush anything. Last time I think I rushed things and jumped in way too quickly and it ended up not working out. So I really worked hard to just be patient and kind of relax and ease into things. It has helped me feel more comfortable and trust both him and the process. I also get to learn to trust myself and my own instincts a little more.

Doing more of what makes me happy.

In most relationships that I have from romantic to platonic to family relationships, one of my biggest faults is paying more attention to what other people think I should do and what other people want instead of focusing on the things that I want to do. So this time around I am striving to do more of what makes me happy and try to find that balance so we can both be happier and feel better about things that are happening.

Establishing boundaries.

I would say that I am pretty good at setting boundaries in relationships. I’m just not always great at keeping them there. I’m not great at sticking to my boundaries. Sometimes I will set up a boundary that is super important to me but the second the other person crosses a line I just let it go. So I’m really working on sticking to those boundaries and making sure I am doing what is best for me.

Let go of the past.

I have learned that there are many things from my past that have caused me to be more reserved and have more trust issues than I would like. So this time around I am working to overcome those struggles and those fears and be more open to the idea of being happy and feeling safe. It’s definitely been a struggle, but I think having someone you trust and is willing to listen to you definitely helps.

Staying true to myself.

It’s really important to me in any relationship that I am to stay true to who I am. I don’t want to change who I am or “fix myself” to accommodate what anyone else thinks I should be. I’m not the most outgoing or the most talkative. I like the more simple things and I am more introverted than some people like. But I refuse to be any different because I have come to like who I am.

So those are the things I did to prepare for a new relationship and start on the right foot. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did.
