Hey guys! Welcome back. I am super excited to be sitting down with you and sharing this with you. It has been a long time coming and I can’t wait to dive right in. So as you can tell by the title I will be sharing my thoughts on the new Morphe and Jaclyn Hill Volume II Palette. If you have been around for a while you know that the original palette has been a favorite of mine for a couple of years now. It’s a great palette for anyone no matter how into makeup you are. So obviously I got super excited when they announced a Volume II. Before we get into the actual review, I would like to state that this is not a sponsored post. I bought this palette and these are my true opinions on the palette.

I have the original palette and the vault collection, so I knew I wanted this palette because otherwise my collection would have a hole. And I love so many of the colors in the palette and I had heard a lot of good things about the palette. So when it launched I picked it up as soon as I could. I ordered it on the Morphe website and I received about a week later.

Upon opening it my first impression was that it looks even better in person than it does online. The shades are very vibrant and pretty. I loved the way it looked and I couldn’t wait to start using it. So far I have used the palette two times. The first time I did a very simple, more everyday look. And today I did a more colorful and vibrant look. Both looks turned out great, but they took a lot of effort to get there.

The transition shades in the palette aren’t super pigmented. But I think that can be a good thing because you can build them up and it makes them easier to blend with. But don’t expect to be able to just throw it on the lid and walk away because if you want a lot of color pay off, you have to build it up. But the brighter and darker colors do have more pigment which is what you would expect. They are also super easy to blend and all the colors really come together to create a great look. So in terms of the matte shades in the palette, if you want a deeper transition you do have to build it up a bit, but it makes them easier to use to blend other shadows. The other matte shadows have great pigment and blend easily as well.

My issue with this palette comes with the shimmer shades. There aren’t very many and the four in the top right corner look very similar. They aren’t the same, but the are similar enough that I would have liked a couple different shades thrown in there. Maybe a light pink similar to what she has in the original palette. They also aren’t super easy to work with. You definitely want to apply these with your finger and trying to blend them is kind of a pain. But if you build them up and layer them together they do look really pretty. You just have to leave it alone and not try to blend too much because the color starts to fall away.

I think the palette is worth getting if you want more color and you want to play with some more vibrant shades. I don’t think it’s a super wearable palette, but you can create more everyday shades. But if you have the original palette you wouldn’t necessarily need this palette for that. So if you like the colors and you want to try it, I say go for it. Otherwise you might not get a lot of use out of it. It just depends on what you are going for and if you want to create more colorful looks.

That being said, I am doing a giveaway in this post. I would like to give away one of the palettes to one lucky winner. You can choose between the original palette and the new palette. Details on how to enter are below!
