Hey guys! Welcome back. I love sharing all of my different routines with you guys and it’s something that is always super requested. So today I decided I would share with you how I spend my quiet time. This is something I try to do every morning just to have some time alone with God. I think this is a great way to start my day because it helps bring me a certain peace and clarity that I don’t otherwise get to have. So this is what I do during my quiet time.

I always start my quiet time with prayer. I believe it is always important to open up my mind and my heart by talking to God first thing. This allows me to prepare myself to really focus and pay attention to what I am reading and learning. It allows me to really listen to what God is trying to say to me through what I am reading. It clears my head of outside distractions and allows me to really dive in.

I like doing devotionals because they really help provide some structure and guidance to reading the Bible, studying the Bible, and understanding the Bible. One of my favorites is The Lipstick Gospel by Stephanie May Wilson. I love being able to have a devotional that can help me relate what I am reading to my own personal life and help me understand things more clearly.

Underline key verses in my Bible.

If the devotional points to a key verse or passage in the Bible, I always like to go to my Bible and highlight those verses and passages. I like to read over them a couple of times to pick apart the things that stand out to me. I like to make notes in a notebook that I can refer back to at another time. It just helps me keep things straight and allows me to keep track of what I have learned.

Read a chapter of the Bible.

I like to try to read entire books instead of skipping around. I will read a chapter a day, sometimes two depending on the length of the chapters. I like to have my pen and notebook handy for this as well so I can make notes about the things that stick out to me and the questions that I have. It helps me remember things better and make sure I am staying focused on what I am reading.

That’s right, I pray twice. And this usually isn’t the last time that day that I will pray. But once I have finished all of my readings I like to take some time to talk to God again. I ask him what he wants me to take away from my quiet time that morning. I also like to pray for others, thank Him for my blessings, and pray over any struggles I have. I also pray over the rest of the day and whatever it might bring.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments what your quiet time looks like. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

  1. Great post, I love devotionals and quiet time but I’m not great at sticking to them or creating time, so I need to be more intentional about that. However, I am going on a mission team to Romania this summer so we have a reading plan which has really been helping me do a devotional most days!

    1. It’s really difficult for me to stick to it sometimes, but I just force myself to do it no matter what. Because I’m the kind of person that if I skip one day, that will turn into many days.

I would love to go on a mission trip! That sounds so amazing! I hope you enjoy it and do a lot of really great work! I will be praying for safe travels and lots of learning!
