Hey guys! Welcome back. Self care is something that is super important to me and I really like sharing with you guys what I do for self care and the journey I have been going on. But I also think it is super important to recognize that self care looks and feels different for everyone. So today I wanted to bring you five tips for creating your very own self care routine based on the things that important for you.

1. Stop thinking you are too busy.

One of the biggest things I hear all the time when the topic of self care comes up is that people think they are too busy. And I used to be one of those people. But the truth is, you aren’t really all that busy. If you add up all the time you spend scrolling on social media, watching TV, and things like that, you do have the time if you cut back on things like that. It’s all about prioritizing yourself and making the time.

2. Focus on the present.

Your self care routine can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. But it is important to make sure that whatever you are doing, you are focusing on the present. Don’t spend your self care time worrying about the past or the future. Take the time for right now. Think about what you need right now. Maybe it’s a nice bubble bath or maybe it’s a good workout. Just focus on what you are feeling right now and what your body is telling you it needs and go from there.

3. Focus on things you love doing.

When it comes to self care sometimes people think they have to have the same routine as other people. But that’s not true either. Your self care routine should focus on you. So think about things that you love doing, whether it’s baking, drawing, cleaning, or something else altogether. Things about those things and then find ways to incorporate them into your self care routine. Even if it is just small things. There is always some time for self care.

4. Create and follow a sleep routine.

Sleep is one of the biggest and most important parts of self care. It’s good for your physical health, your mental health, and even your emotional health. It is so important to have a sleep routine that works for you, but also that ensures you are getting the proper amount of sleep and rest that your body and brain need. So even if you think you don’t have time for self care any other time, start with your sleep routine and make sure you are getting plenty of it.

5. Hold yourself accountable.

Self care should be fun and relaxing, but it’s important to make sure that you are holding yourself accountable and actually sticking to the routine you have set for yourself. Otherwise, it’s not really a routine. It’s just something you sometimes find yourself doing. So find ways to hold yourself accountable and make sure you are following the self care routine you have set in place. But remember, it’s okay to change things up if they aren’t working for you.

Self care is all about you. That’s why it’s called “self” care. So find a routine that works for you and that you love. Then you are more likely to follow it and actually look forward to it. And I promise wants you get into the rhythm and routine, you will start seeing the benefits of taking that time for yourself. So if you want to get better at self care, try starting with a few of these tips.
