Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great weekend. One question I get asked a lot is how I keep God a part of my daily life. And I think this is a really great question considering there are so many distractions and so many things that can pull our attention away from God. So today I thought I would share the ways that I make my relationship with God a priority everyday. Some days are definitely better than others and I’m not always great at keeping up with all of these, but I do my best to stay on top of these as much as possible.

Daily Prayer.

I think prayer is super important, but it really is essential to pray everyday. If you want to have that close relationship with God and create that daily dependence, start talking to Him everyday. Talk to Him in the morning when you wake up. Ask Him to be with you that day. Talk to Him at night before you go to bed and thank Him for being with you. And just talk to Him during various parts of your day. I talk to Him like He is sitting next to me because I feel like He always is.

Read The Bible.

I cannot stress how important this one is. Reading The Bible gives you first hand accounts of the amazing things that God is capable of and what He can do in your life. It will help build that trust and that faith if you are getting to see the things that God has done for other people. Just spend some time everyday reading The Bible, even if it’s just a couple of verses here and there. Just make sure you are sustaining what you read and letting it really sink in. Don’t just passively read because that won’t really help you in the long term.

Practice Obedience.

Sometimes it is really difficult to follow God’s plan and do what He tells us to do. Often times it’s because we are too scared and leaning on our own understanding. But God calls us not to lean on our understanding of what might happen and have faith in what He knows will happen. So as you start to grow this daily dependence, make sure you are being obedient and following the path that God has set for you. It doesn’t mean there won’t be pain and bad situations that come up, it just means you aren’t going through it along.

Be Mindful.

Mindfulness is important in any relationship, but especially in your relationship with God. So as you go about doing things that you typically do or spending time with people you normally see, make sure you are being mindful. Your relationship with God should not be an occasional thing. It should be something that you are always aware of and thinking about. It should be something you value and appreciate. So don’t treat God like He’s only there when you want Him to be. Act as though He is always there.

Build Relationships With Other Christians.

Faith is a tricky thing and sometimes we really struggle to keep going. So when it comes to cultivating that daily dependence and having that super close relationship with God, it’s really important to build a community and support system of people who think the same way and have the same beliefs as you. Those like-minded Christians will also help keep you accountable and making sure that you are staying on top of what you need to do to keep your relationship with God and your faith strong.
