Hey guys! Welcome back. I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling extra stressed lately. Even on my days off I don’t feel like I get a ton of rest. So I try to find little things that I can do to help ease the stress and live a more easy-going life. With all the internal pressure I have placed on myself and the need to always be on top of my game, it’s really difficult to ease up sometimes and just let life happen. So instead of trying to force myself to stop working so hard or caring so much, I’m going in a different direction and just trying to make some small changes that will help me stress less and feel more at peace. Here are some of the things I am doing to live a less stressful life.
I can’t even begin to explain to you how much of a difference doing a brain dump has on my life. Getting to sit down and write down all of my thoughts, feelings, struggles, and desires takes a huge mental load off of me. It helps me clear my head and ease some of the tension that I have built up. It has seriously become one of the most beneficial habits in my life because I see the value it has. I am able to not only clear my head, but keep notes of things that I want to return to later so I’m not trying to keep up with everything and remember it all.
There are just some people in your life that can make everything better and for me those people are my friends. I truly don’t know where I would be without them. So I really try to prioritize spending time with them and chatting with them because it really does help. Whether we are laughing about something silly or sharing advice on what we are going through, I know that if there is a ever a time that I am really struggling that I can count on them. So having these friendship dates gives me a time to spend some quality time with other people.
It is probably no surprise that I have to put this on this list because it may seem painfully obvious, but some of us can’t always say that we get enough sleep. Even though I really try to get enough sleep every night and I go to bed as early as I can, I don’t always get the sleep I need or want. But sleep really does help with stress. Getting the right amount of sleep lets your body and your mind reset and refocus. It helps you start fresh everyday. I think getting sleep is one of the easiest and most beneficial things you can do.
Remove Something From My Calendar.
Sometimes it really does come down to just moving something off of my calendar. Whether I am moving it to another time or day or just taking it off completely, sometimes I know that I just can’t get everything accomplished that I wanted to that day. I have struggled in the past with giving myself grace and allowing myself to be flexible and remove things if necessary, but I have learned as time goes on that it’s important to have some flexibility because not everything is always going to go the way I want it to and the day won’t always go as planned.
This is another one that I have talked about many times before and I don’t think there will ever come a time when I’m not mentioning it at some point. Once I started really prioritizing my quiet time everyday and allowing myself to just be still and relax, things changed drastically for me. I was able to have some time just for myself and just do something that makes me happy or that I find joy in. It’s time that I spend not worrying about everyone else and just focusing on what I need or want during that time.
Those are some of the simple things that I do to lead a less stressful life. It’s not much, but I promise starting with these tips will make all the difference in your life.
