Hey guys! Welcome back. As you may have seen a few days ago we had a post that was Dani’s favorite original shows. And from that I was inspired to share my favorite Netflix original shows. Our lists are very different, but I think this just goes to show that there are so many amazing original shows on Netflix that are worth checking out. Netflix has put out some really great shows these past few years and I am excited to share with you what my favorites have been!
13 Reasons Why.
I know that this show has a lot of controversy around it and probably for good reason, but there is also a huge reason why it is at the top of my life. This show quickly became one of my all-time favorite shows because it doesn’t shy away from some very important topics and conversations that need to be had more often. And even though it is very dark and intense, I think it does a really great job at giving people a lot to think about and be aware of, especially when it comes to the lives of teenagers.
If you have not yet watched this show I really can’t recommend it enough. It is about a teenager who is on the Autistic spectrum and it follows the life of him, his family, and his friends as he tries to navigate his life as a young adult with Autism. Not only does this show help bring awareness about Autism and the challenges that can come with it, but it also is very funny at times and brings a certain lightheartedness that is very refreshing.
This is a show that at first I had no interest in watching. Much like the next show I am about to talk about, I had no interest in what I thought the show was going to be about. But once I started really watching it and got into it I began to get really invested. As scary and creepy as it is, I really like the way it does force people to see social media and the people they meet in a different way. It also has some very entertaining aspects which I can enjoy and appreciate.
This show embodies everything that is the exact opposite of who I am. However, it does embody something very similar to how I was raised. When I started watching this show I was watching it because my brother really liked it and I love a lot of the actors in it. But I didn’t think I would get as invested in the stories and characters as I did. Even though it’s not really something I connect with a ton, I love a show that has super funny moments and super serious moments and this show definitely does.
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.
Any true Gilmore Girls fan knows that while this is a Netflix Original it’s really only great because it’s Gilmore Girls. On it’s own I don’t think I would have really enjoyed it if I hadn’t watched the original series and loved it so much. And I also recognize that this series is nowhere near as good as the original series. However, I do still enjoy going back to it occasionally and I really do think it’s worth mentioning here because it does have some great moments.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
This is a show I started watching a while back but never really kept up with. But it’s on this list because I do think it’s a great show and I really do want to finish it. And I do occasionally revert back and watch a few episodes. It is really funny and I think the characters are really unique, but also relatable in their own ways. And even though I haven’t watched it the whole way through, I am comfortable saying it’s one of my favorites.
Dead To Me.
There aren’t many people that I know who haven’t watched this show. And this is another show that I am not fully caught up on, but I’m getting there. And even though I am still catching up I do enjoy the story, the characters, and so many other things about this show. I think it is one of the most unique shows that I have ever seen and I think it’s handled in a really tasteful way. It’s definitely a show I want to see more of in the future.
