Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week so far. Today I wanted to share something I intended to share a while ago but it kept getting pushed back. Today I am sharing some tips for decorating your bedroom in the order that I recommend. These are the steps that helped me as I began decorating my bedroom and going through the process of making my apartment feel like home. So whether you are starting over completely or just redecorating, I hope you find these steps useful as you get started.

Step One: Gather Inspiration.

Pinterest is a great tool when it comes to getting inspiration for your room! It will help you find ideas that you love and some that you don’t love. But looking through Pinterest will help you create vision boards that will help you make your vision a reality. You will be able to create a basic idea of what you want your room to look like before you go out and start buying things or start ordering things. This isn’t really the most productive step in the process but I think it is one of the most fun because you get to look through what other people have done with their space.

Step Two: Do Inventory.

Chances are you probably already and decor and other things you can use in your bedroom. From decorations to organization to lighting, you probably already have some options. So take stock of what you have, what you want to keep and use, and what you want to git rid of before you start making big purchases. This will help prevent you from having a ton of clutter and having to find places to keep things. You also might come up with some new ideas on things you might like to have in your room based on what you already have.

Step Three: Consider Limitations.

Even though it’s fun to dream and plan out what our dream house would look like, it’s really important to be realistic with what you have. Make sure you are taking your budget into consideration when you start shopping for things for your new room. You don’t want to go overboard and then have regrets later on. Also, be sure to consider how long you will be in this room and if you might want to make changes again in the future. If so, you don’t want to spend a lot of money just to turn around and do it again six months from now.

Step Four: Know Your Style.

It’s always good to have at least some idea of what your style is and what you want in terms of the look and feel of your bedroom. It should be something that makes you feel comfortable and puts you at ease because it is the room that you sleep in. But of course you also want spaces to do other things as well. So overall you need a style that fits all of your needs and helps you find pieces that really bring the room together. This will also help when you are looking for inspiration because you will be able to tailor your searches to find a specific style of bedroom.

Step Five: Choose A Color Scheme.

I must say this step was the most difficult for me. There are so many color schemes to choose from and it can be difficult to pick one to go with. I had a ton of trouble finding one that I loved and sticking to it. But having a color scheme pays off so much in the end, so it really is worth all the trouble of finding one. I recommend thinking of colors you really love and trying to find a neutral color to pair with it just so you have some balance and still have some room to be creative if you wanted to add a few other pops of color here and there.

Step Six: Make A List.

Start with making a list of the big things you need. Whether it be pieces of furniture, organization, or bedding, it’s a really good idea to get the big stuff out of the way first. This will also help you know what spaces you have to work with in terms of decorating and the small things that you will want to get. Also, I will say you really never stop getting the small stuff. So go ahead and get the big stuff out of the way so you can start enjoying the process of decorating with the pillows, wall art, and other small things that you love.

And those are my tips for decorating your bedroom! I really hope this helps you as you start the incredible journey of decorating your bedroom. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Do you have any tips for decorating a bedroom? Please leave them in the comments! We could all use some advice and new ideas.
