Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you had a great weekend. Today I wanted to do a little bit of reflecting with you guys and share a few updates on things that have happened in the past year. I thought it would be fun to share some of the big things that happened this year and see how far I have come from where I was when 2020 started. This has been a difficult year to say the least, but it has caused major growth and accomplishment in my life. I will also be sharing some of my favorite blog posts from the year for you guys to look back on if you are interested!
I got my first apartment.
This is probably one of the biggest ones for me and it’s something that starting out this year I really wasn’t sure would happen this year. However, because of unforeseen circumstances I really had no choice, but I am so thankful that it all worked out. I am super grateful that I landed here and I have officially moved out on my own. It’s been so much fun and I have learned so much about myself and what I am actually capable of instead of letting other people decide what I was capable of for me.
I made new friends.
If I hadn’t moved here I never would have met any of the amazing people I have had the privilege of getting to know. From my roommates to the people I work with, there are so many people that have completely changed my life in the almost four months that I have been here. I have loved getting to know them and I love that I continue to get to know people and grow my circle with amazing and supportive people.
I wrote more meaningful content.
2020 was a year of growth for me in many ways. One of those ways was that I really tried to write meaningful and uplifting content to share with you guys. I pushed myself to share more about the things I have gone through, the things I have felt, and the things I have struggled with. It has been a challenge, but I think it has paid off. You guys seem to really be loving it so I will do my best to continue that into this next year.
I moved to a new city.
I would really like to point out that I moved to a brand new city all by myself. I moved here not knowing anyone, not knowing where anything was, and not really having a plan. I had to figure things out all by myself, including finding a job and I did all of it in a decent time span. It definitely was a challenge at first, but it was so worth it because now looking back I see the growth and I see that I came out stronger because of it.
I grew closer to God.
My relationship with God is something that is very important to me because I know I wouldn’t be anywhere that I am without Him. And I have spent a lot of time this past year growing even closer to Him and really trying to put in the work to get to know Him even better. My life has really changed because of this. I have grown closer to God and have learned to depend on Him and know that I don’t have to have it all figured out because he already does.
I prioritized my mental health.
Mental health is something I have been educating myself on for a few years now. I have really worked to be better about taking care of my mental health and learning to process emotions. 2020 was a big year for me and there is a lot that happened both positively and negatively. And even though I worked really hard on my mental health, I still had moments where I struggled. But I think overall I really did have great progress.
And most importantly…I survived.
2020 was quite the year for everyone, but it is definitely one that will be remembered. And I like to look back and think that I not only survived, but I also thrived (during the last half of the year anyway). I went through a lot in this last year and there were a ton of changes that happened, but I think it was all for the best. I am not where I thought I would be a year ago, but I am in a much better place and I am happier than I ever thought possible!
