Hey guys! Welcome back. With 2020 coming to a close, I think we all deserve a little something special this year. It’s been pretty difficult for so many of us and I think now more than ever we need something to lift our spirits. So today I thought I would share a few things that you can do for yourself this Holiday Season. I love giving gifts and sharing with other people, but I am also very introverted and know the value of being alone and doing things for myself. So I have a few things that I love to do that I thought I would share with you.

Practice gratitude.

It’s been a difficult year, but there are still so many things to be grateful for. No matter where you ended up this year, there is always something you have to be grateful for. In all the mess there is always a message. So take some time to write down the things that you are grateful for and then put it up somewhere where you can see it everyday. It will serve as a reminder of everything you have going for you.

Take some time off.

This is the perfect time to take some time off if you can. And if you can’t, take some time on your days off to genuinely relax and not worry about anything. Take some time off to just rest and spend time doing things just for fun. It will help you destress and decompress because as fun and exciting as the holidays are, they can also be stressful.

Snuggle up.

It’s been pretty chilly here this year, so I love snuggling up and getting warm while I watch my favorite shows this year. I really encourage you to do the same. Grab some blankets, a warm drink, and a nice candle and cozy up. Watch something, read something, or just enjoy your time. Have some conversation with someone or listen to some music. Stay warm and just relax for a little while.

Spend time with friends.

Whether you have friends that you can actually see or you video chat with them, take some time to chat with your friends. We all get so busy sometimes that we forget to reach out to the important people in our lives, but quality time is so important. And if this year taught us anything, it’s that time spent with others isn’t always possible and we should hold on to every moment that we possibly can. So spend time with your friends in any way that you can this Holiday Season. You will be surprised at how positively it can affect you.

Sleep in a little bit longer than usual.

Sleep is so important and it’s really beneficial. So I highly recommend sleeping in a little bit longer than you normally do as often as you can this Holiday Season. Just let your body and your mind rest. We live in a society that highly values productivity which is great, but I think it becomes so important that we lose out on something we really need which is good quality rest.

Create a vision board.

A new year is literally right around the corner, so now is the time to start thinking about what you want the next year to look like. From goals to intentions to adventures you want to have, start making a vision board. You can make a real vision board or you could make one online. Pinterest is a great tool for creating just about any kind of board you want. Find things that you want to represent 2021 and give yourself a visual for the new year.

Write a letter to your future self.

Where do you want to be in five years? What do you want your future self to know? What do you want to know about your future? Sit down and write a letter to your future self. It could be the you a year from now, five years from now, or even ten years from now. Take some time to write a letter to that person. Share how you feel, your thoughts, and even some things you are struggling with. Write down things you are loving right now and maybe a recent memory. That way your future self can look back and hopefully be able to reflect on how far you have come.

Read a book that makes you feel good.

If you are a reader, I really recommend reading a good book this Holiday Season. It’s a great way to take your mind off of everything going on and just relax. It’s also a great way to learn something new if you are into nonfiction and personal growth. But you also really can’t go wrong with a great fiction book.

Tap into your inner child.

Find some time to let go this Holiday Season and just have fun. Whether it’s playing games, making something, painting, or watching cartoons, let your inner child free and have some fun. Do whatever you want that makes you laugh and just feel good for a while. You will thank yourself later.

Be honest with yourself.

Don’t try to cover up how you are feeling, what you are struggling with, or what you need. Be honest with yourself. Open up about what you are feeling. Write it down and try to work through it. Share with others what you are comfortable with and ask for help when you need it. You don’t have to be alone unless you want to. Give yourself what you need. Whether it’s rest, good food, time to yourself, or anything else. Listen to your body and respond accordingly.

Buy yourself flowers.

I’m not really a big flower person myself, but I do love the occasional bouquet of flowers. It really just livens up a room and can really help lift your spirits. And you don’t have to wait around for anyone else to buy you flowers. Just go buy yourself flowers. I know it’s not really the same, but it kind of is.

Cook your favorite meal.

Cooking is one of my favorite things and it brings me a lot of joy. I have loved learning new things these past few months and trying out different meals. Comfort foods go a long way this time of year and I firmly believe that everyone has a favorite comfort food. So make yourself this Holiday Season and enjoy.

Laugh a lot.

Laughing is the best medicine, so it’s really a great thing to do if you are feeling down or stressed. Watch a funny TV show, watch some funny videos, or find some great jokes online. So whatever makes you laugh the most. It’s really fun and you will feel so much better.

Be creative.

I mean you could probably guess that this would be on the list at some point right? I am a huge advocate for being creative because it really does take you into another head space. It uses a different part of your brain and really does help relieve stress. And there are so many different ways that you can be creative. Writing, painting, drawing, crafting, cooking, baking, graphic design, and so many other ways to be creative. Find something you really enjoy and spend some time doing that for yourself this Holiday Season.

Bake cookies.

This one is really just for fun, but I mean come on. Who doesn’t love cookies? And baking cookies is almost as fun as eating them! Whether you are making homemade cookies using your favorite recipe or just making cookies out of store bought cookie dough, it’s all just good fun and you can even make some to share with others (if you wanted to).
