Hey guys! Welcome to 2021! I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely thrilled to start a new year. This year I am in the best position I have ever been in and I am really excited to see what this next year has in store for me. 2020 may have been rough, but I did so much growing and accomplished more than I believed possible when the year started. So I can really only imagine what 2021 will have in store for me and I am looking forward to another year of growth and endless possibilities. And to start things off I wanted to share my goals for this year with you.
Learn more about personal finance.
Growing up I was never really taught about finances or money. I wasn’t taught in school or by my parents. So trying to navigate the world of money as an adult is a bit tricky. But I am really hoping to learn more about personal finances and how to manage my money better this year. I think it’s something that is super important and I want to be as educated on the subject as I can so I make good choices regarding money.
Read 12 books.
It’s not as random as it seems. It’s one book a month. I think that is reasonable and realistic. I have some books that I want to read, but I don’t know if I have 12. So if you have any recommendations (fiction, nonfiction, etc.) please leave them in the comments below. I could use some new book ideas. I have been reading more lately getting ready for the new year though and I have really been enjoying it.
Start a gratitude journal.
Gratitude is a huge part of my life and I remind myself of what I am grateful for every day. But I don’t always right it down. So this year I want to have a journal completely devoted to what I am grateful for each day so I can look back for years to come to see what I was thinking about and what I was most grateful for on any given day. I think it’s a great way to record my thoughts and also just remind myself what I’m thankful for.
Create a fitness routine.
I don’t really have a routine right now, but I really want to in this next year. I am finally in a stable place with working out and having adequate space and control. I want to create a routine that is flexible, but that I am motivated to stay on. I don’t want something that is so rigid that if I miss a day I fall off completely. I just want something that works for and that I can adjust as needed. So it’s something that I am working on regularly.
Build an emergency fund.
This is a big part of my first goal, learning more about personal finance. It plays a role in getting my finances in order and having some money set aside if something ever happens and I need some extra money. I think it’s just something we are supposed to have and everyone I have seen talk about personal finance so far really recommends having an emergency fund. So it’s something I am looking to build in the near future.
Get better at cooking.
I love having the freedom and ability to try new things in the kitchen and this year has been full of trying new recipes and learning to cook different things. I am looking forward to trying even more in the new year and learning all sorts of recipes. Especially with the new air fryer that I got. I am excited to see what I can come up with and try. Let me know if you have any recommendations in the comments.
Wake up 30 minutes earlier.
Working from home has caused me to have this really bad habit of not getting up until the last possible minute. I really want to overcome that habit this year and start getting up at least 30 minutes earlier than I need to. I think it will help with productivity and my overall mood. It will prevent me from feeling rushed or not fully awake when I sign on to start working every day. So I really need to start waking up earlier.
Continue paying down debt.
I don’t have a ton of debt, just my student loans, but I am still working on paying those off. I am really hoping that hopefully in 2021 I can pay them off completely, but we will see how that goes. This is another goal that ties into personal finance and learning how to best set myself up for success in the future. And hopefully if all goes well I can get my debt paid off even sooner than I thought and move forward.
Meet new people and build more relationships.
A year ago I probably never would have said this because honestly I am not a huge people person. But in 2021 I do really want to make new friends and build new relationships. After moving to a new city and really settling in these past few months I think it’s time to open up and start meeting new people. I want to form solid relationships and really get to know some new people. Maybe not everyone, but at least a couple of new people.
Complete Special Project.
So I have a special project that I have been working on for a while. I haven’t really told anyone what it is, but I am dangerously close to having it finished and ready to go. So hopefully if all goes well at some point in this next year I can release it into the world. I am really excited to finally be able to share it with you guys and hopefully you love it as much as I do and can see the value in everything that is included with it.
And those are my goals for 2021! Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments what your goals for this next year are. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
