Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to start this week off strong. Today I wanted to chat about something that has been on my mind a lot lately. I have struggled for a really long time with mental health and letting go of the past. It hasn’t always been easy as I have struggled with depression and anxiety for a very long time. Positivity is not something that has come very naturally to me and while I don’t think it solves all of my problems, I have found that seeing more of a positive in most situations has some value and even if it’s just getting me to the next thing, I’m okay with that. So today I thought I would share some things that really help me be more positive and see a brighter side of things.


Music is so powerful and it has the ability to make us feel just about anything. So when I am having a bad day, I’m feeling low on energy, or I’m just really struggling in the moment, I always like to turn to music. I have a playlist for just about anything and I’m telling you, there is nothing that works faster or better than listening to music does for me. I get so much joy from it and I absolutely could not live without it.


Unfortunately it’s been pretty cold here this past week which is a real bummer. But I still really enjoy the sunshine and being outside when it’s warm and just soaking up all the warmth. It really does help me not only relax and feel more calm, but it also really does help me feel more positive. It’s really helpful if I go outside in the morning and just spend some time in the sun walking around. It doesn’t happen too often, but when I feel like I really need it, I know it will help and I try to get out there as much as possible.

Positive People.

They say you are a reflection of the five people you spend the most time with. So if you are surrounding yourself with even just one negative person, it’s going to affect you if you spend a lot of time with that person. Of course it’s not always possible to cut every negative person out of your life, but I really try to limit my contact with those people and I try to spend way more time with people who are more positive and uplifting. It’s so much easier to be positive in your own life if the energy you are surrounding yourself with is positive.

Set Goals.

Yes, it’s true. Having goals helps me be more positive. I love having something to look forward to and work towards. I love having ways that I can work on myself and improve myself. I love growing and learning. I have found that the more I am achieving and the more success I find, the more positive I become because I’m happier. Of course this isn’t true for everyone, but this is definitely a big one for me. I love having something that I am working towards at all times because it gives me direction and focus.


You know that saying “Fake it ’til you make it”? Yeah I didn’t believe it at first. I didn’t think if I just started smiling that it would really help me be more positive and change my thinking. But it did. Now I’m not saying that if you only do this you will become more positive because I don’t think that’s how it works. But I’m including it because it’s a small thing that you can start with that is easy to build upon.

Talk It Out.

Sometimes when I’m feeling down or I’m in a bad place mentally I find that talking it out with someone really helps. Whether that’s with God, a friend, or even a therapist, sometimes talking it out is the best thing I can do. It helps me get any negative thoughts or feelings immediately out of my mind and it helps me automatically start processing and working through whatever I am going through in that moment.

And those are the things that help me to be a more positive person. These are some of the most important things I have learned help me. Thank you so much for stopping by!
