Hey guys! Welcome back. Today I wanted to dive into a topic that I’ve always been really interested in, but never really talked much about. I have always really loved interior design and decorating, and over the past year have been working to really get the decor in my apartment the way I want it. We are still a work in progress, but we’re getting there. But one of the biggest challenges I have faced, and I’m sure some of you are facing or have faced, in being on a tight budget. Sometimes it’s hard to create the space that we really want because we just don’t have the funds to do it. So I thought I would share some tips that I have learned that will hopefully help you as well.
Don’t buy everything at once.
It can be kind of tempting to go on a big shopping spree and buy a bunch of decor and it’s really fun in the moment. But it can also be a problem if you get things and realize you don’t like them or they don’t really work in the space you envisioned. So I have found that it’s better to go slow and take your time. Don’t buy everything at once. Pick up a couple of new things when you are out that you really like. Make sure you have a good idea of the space you have and the look you are trying to create. This will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
Your entryways can have a major impact in the overall look and feel of your home. The front door and the bedroom entryways could all be spruced up with a little decor. Most people don’t really think to decorate these areas since you don’t spend a ton of time in these areas, but it can add to the feel that you are trying to give your home. It can make your home feel more welcoming and comfortable.
Add some curtains.
Curtains can be a pain because it can take time to find the perfect ones and to get the hung up and looking the way you want. But I promise all the time and effort is totally worth it. It’s a great way to add color, coziness, and just overall make your home feel more comfortable. There are so many different styles of curtains as well, so you are bound to find something that you really like and that can help liven up the place. Without curtains your windows can look kind of bare and boring, so adding curtains can only add to the space.
Add pops of color.
I like to go with a neutral base and add pops of color. It’s just helpful because then I don’t have to worry about everything matching a super bold color like blue or orange. I can just add pops of color to the white or grey or black. I like to add colorful pillows, decor, rugs, and things of that nature to really liven the place up. It’s a great way to make sure I can change out colors if I wish and not have to change my whole color scheme every time I find something new I want.
Add some wall art.
Not all wall art is expensive, especially on places like Amazon. You can find some really great decor and wall art at pretty affordable prices. So it’s always worth looking into and just seeing what you can find. Wall art helps the walls look less empty and it’s a great way to express some personality and creativity. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just a few things that you find that you really like. It’s worth the investment I promise.
Get some plants.
Plants and flowers are a great way to bring literal life to your home. You can get plants pretty affordable and add them to places where they will get sun. All you have to do is keep them alive which can be challenging. But if you are able to keep them alive, getting some plants and flowers might be a great way to add some color and just have something a little different in your home. You could even get a cactus. Those require minimal effort to keep alive.
And those are my favorite decorating tips for a home on a budget! There are so many ways to add some decor and personality without breaking the bank. It can be a challenge, but it’s definitely possible. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did.
