Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are having a great week. I am working hard to try to post everyday and so far I’m doing really well. And today I am here to talk about micro-habits. Micro-habits to me are the little habits that just make like easier or better. They are things that aren’t totally necessary, but things that definitely have an impact when they are incorporated into my life. So today I thought I would share what those micro-habits are for me. These are the small things I do on a regular basis that really have had a positive impact on my life.

Reading before bed.

Sometimes it’s hard to fit reading in to a day that’s already full. But taking a few minutes to read before bed helps in a variety of ways. First, it’s a great way to relax and calm my mind before bed. It’s something that’s productive but requires minimal effort. Also, before bed I’m not really thinking about doing anything else, so this is the perfect time to read a few pages or a lot of pages. It also keeps those anxious or negative thoughts from creeping into my mind before I go to sleep. Overall, it’s just been a really great practice and something I really look forward to everyday.

Workout.

This isn’t really a micro-habit, but it also kind of is. It’s something that I try to incorporate into my day as much as possible because I know how important it is. I know the benefits of moving my body and how much better I feel when I do it. I have even started using the stairs outside my apartment and seeing how many times I can go up and down. It’s been a really fun challenge and it’s something I look forward to everyday. I just find that it I workout, even if it’s just a little, it really changes the whole day for me.

Drink two glasses of water.

The more water the better, but having a minimum of two glasses is still doing a lot of good. It’s a great way to hydrate and feel better overall in a similar way that working out has. It’s as simple as having a glass first thing in the morning and a glass right before bed. Of course, you should be drinking far more than that during the day, but if you can just get in the habit of two a day, it will be much easier to build on and start drinking more water. I promise it’s definitely worth it and the benefits are great. And who doesn’t want to be hydrated.

Write in a journal.

Whether you are writing with journal prompts or just free writing, there are so many benefits to writing in a journal everyday. It’s a great way to record your thoughts, work through whatever you have going on, and be able to look back and see how far you’ve come. Keeping a journal and just writing a page a day is a lot of fun and it’s a productive way to clear your head. If you’re like me and have a lot going on at all times, keeping a journal can be a great way to unload and keep track of everything so you don’t feel as lost.

Keep a food journal.

Speaking of journals, there’s another journal that I highly recommend: the food journal. I keep a food journal that tracks what I’m eating and drinking, how I feel before and after each meal, and any money that I’m spending on food. It’s a great way for me to keep track of what I’m eating and how that’s affecting me overall. It started as a simple challenge, but I kept going once the challenge was over because I really liked the results I was seeing and I wanted to keep going. It’s actually been a lot of fun and something that has just really made a difference for me.

  1. These are some great habits, and the “workout” habit can be micro if you started with a 2-minute workout and gradually built up to a half-hour to an hour workout, especially if you’re struggling. The 2-minute rule can make for a great way to start building habits.
