Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you’re ready to talk about self care because that’s the topic of discussion today. And I love this one specifically because we are talking all about things you can do without spending any money. To be totally honest these are some of my favorite things to do anyway. So I am excited to share them with you. There are most likely a ton more than are on this list, but these are the ones I could come up with off the top of my head that I really enjoy. Spend some time outside.
Whether it’s going for a walk, sitting in the grass, or taking in the night sky, spending time outside and getting some fresh air does the mind, body, and soul a lot of good. It’s the perfect way to reconnect with yourself and just let yourself breathe. You can do this by yourself or with someone else, whatever makes you the most comfortable. Just taking some time to be outside and enjoy the peaceful sights and sounds is such a good feeling.
Clean and organize.
It may not sound like self care if you really don’t like cleaning, but I promise it is. There aren’t many things that feel better than a clean space. So if you are feeling like you’re in a funk or you feel overwhelmed, try cleaning and decluttering a space. Even if it’s just a small space. It can make a lot of difference.
Do some journaling.
I have opened up a lot this year about how much I love journaling and how much it helps me. It’s really been a game changer because it’s something I like to do to reconnect with myself and just take a few minutes to get some thoughts out. Writing is one of my absolutely favorite things to do, so anything that allows me to express myself in writing is automatically going to the top of my list. But I think it can really be helpful even if you aren’t a writer because it’s a way for you to let go of some of the things you are holding on to.
Get some sleep.
Again, this may not seem like self care, but truly it is. Whether it’s a quick nap or going to bed an hour earlier, getting some much needed sleep is really good for you. And also, it really doesn’t cost anything to do this. Getting sleep is honestly one of the ways I get in self care the most because I find that my body really needs more than I give it sometimes.
Read a book.
You probably have at least one book that you have been meaning to read or that you started and never finished (I know I’m not the only one), so taking a few minutes everyday to read a little bit of that book and just let your mind wander into another world for a minute is a great way to practice self care. Reading helps you take a little bit of pressure off and dive into someone else’s thoughts and words.
These are my favorite ways to practice self care that don’t cost anything at all. An in my opinion the best ones are the ones that don’t cost you anything.
