Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are all having a great week. It’s almost over and that seems a bit crazy because I feel like it just started. This week has gone by pretty fast which isn’t totally a bad thing. But it did get me thinking about something I really struggle with which is relaxing. I have never been able to just sit and rest unless I’m sleeping and it’s caused me to always be on the go or working on something. I have really struggled with not being productive all the time and I usually have to force myself to rest. So I found some ways to rest and relax while still kind of being productive and it’s surprisingly helped a lot. So I figured if there is anyone else who really struggles with just resting and relaxing that these ideas may help you as well.
Do some stretching.
Stretching is great for a variety of reasons. It’s a great workout, it helps relieve stress and tension, it can be super relaxing, and it can also be fun. It always helps me get out some energy as well which helps me rest and relax even more once I am done with the stretching. I usually like to do do guided stretches where I find a YouTube video that has specific stretches for resting and relaxing because it helps me know that I’m doing it right.
Listen to music.
I have different playlists for different moods and I do have a playlist completely devoted to resting and relaxing. I will put on this playlist while I do something like painting, doing a puzzle, or even taking a bath. It’s nice to be able to have some soothing sounds while I’m resting and it’s also just very calming. I love music, so having a playlist that I only listen to when I am trying to rest and relax definitely helps. Music helps me zone out a bit and it takes my thoughts away from everything for a moment so I can just really be in the moment.
I love cooking and there’s nothing quite like a good meal. And when I want to relax and really set the mood I will light some candles and cook some good comfort food. It’s one of my favorite things to do when I have a little bit extra time and can really take the time to cook a whole meal. Setting a calming mood and being able to spend time making my favorite foods is honestly something I really look forward to.
Go for a walk.
Walks are really nice because you are getting in some movement, but it’s not so high impact that you aren’t able to relax while you are doing it. I like listening to some music or a podcast while I’m out walking because it really helps me get my mind off of everything that’s going on and allows me to really just relax. I can relieve some stress and tension and really just enjoy some music or encouragement while also getting some fresh air. Taking a nice walk is one of my absolute favorite things to do and I try to do it as often as I can.
Okay hear me out. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, cleaning really relaxes me. I think it’s probably one of the most satisfying things ever and I genuinely love cleaning. I don’t always get around to cleaning everyday because there is always a lot going on, but when I’m stressed I really like cleaning. It’s also really productive, so it never hurts to get in some cleaning because there is always something that needs to be done.
And those are my favorite ways to relax since I really suck at just resting and relaxing. They are all some of my favorite things to do as well. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments what some of your favorite ways to relax are.
