Hey guys! Welcome back. Mornings are hard for me. I’ve never been a morning person at all. It’s really hard for me to get up and get going in the mornings, and it’s tough because obviously most days I have to go to work. But I have found a few things that help give me a little more energy in the morning and help me start off on the right foot and I wanted to share them with you in case you also struggle with finding that motivation first thing in the morning. Making these things a habit and really prioritizing them everyday has definitely helped me a lot.
I have found that stretching, even if it’s for only five minutes, really helps me in the morning. It’s a great way to release endorphins and do something that helps my brain and body know it’s time to wake up. Stretching is also just really great for the body physically and it’s a great thing to do no matter what the day has in store. It’s something I try to do immediately when I get out of bed because then I know it’s over and I know that I am ready to start my day. But doing it at any point in the morning is better than not doing it at all.
I’m not a huge coffee drinker. I drink it sometimes, but it’s not an every morning thing. But I do try to make sure I’m drinking water. When I start my day with water I know I am more likely to keep drinking it throughout the day. It’s also a great way for me to feel refreshed and it really does give me energy. Drinking water is one of the easiest things we can do for ourselves, and also it’s free. There’s really no excuse not to be drinking water. It you don’t like the taste of just water, add some fruit or some flavoring. There are so many options.
I can’t stress how important eating breakfast is. It’s really easy to skip it when you don’t have time or you would rather sleep a little longer. But me personally, I have found that eating breakfast actually gives me more energy than sleeping an extra ten or fifteen minutes does. Breakfast is also something that gives me something to look forward to in the morning and I try to make it as much of an experience as I can. It’s always nice to have something fun to look forward to when you’re starting your day so I really try to keep it a habit.
Ignore my phone.
It’s really easy to check my phone in the morning when I get up, but over the past few months especially I have really tried to make it a habit to not check my phone immediately. I wait until after breakfast most days to check my phone. I make sure I have been up and had my own thoughts before I check in on the rest of the world. It’s nice to have that time to myself even if it doesn’t last long. I spend all day most days of the week on the phone and talking to other people, so I really need that time first thing in the morning to not have to worry about anything.
Do something for me.
Speaking of time for myself, I like to take a few minutes every morning to do something just for me. Whether it’s writing in my journal, reading a book, or working on a side project, it’s really important that I have that time in the morning that allows me to do something for myself before I start taking on the needs of other people. My job can be incredibly draining at times and I always find it helpful if I feel like I have taken care of myself first. It helps in a variety of ways and I really think it’s just the best thing for everyone. It really helps me be more energetic and lively.
Those are the things that I like to do in the morning to boost my energy and really get the day started on the right foot. I still struggle sometimes for sure, but these things definitely help keep that at a minimum. I look forward to them every morning. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this.
