Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are all having a great week. I have been on quite the journey these past couple of weeks trying to find peace in my own life and really just getting back on track with where I want and need to be. It’s not always easy with all the things that are going on on a daily basis, but I have managed to find some things that have really helped. So today I thought I would share some of the tips I have picked up on in hopes that it might help you. Especially as we are about to enter the last part of the year, I know it’s a pretty chaotic and stressful time. So hopefully this will help you as you try to find peace in your own life.

Get outside.

It’s one of the best things because it’s free. There is something very peaceful and relaxing about just being outside and getting some fresh air. Even if you can only do it for a few moments, it’s still going to do a lot of good. It can help you take your mind off of your to-do list, reduce some of the stress you are feeling, and it’s just great for your health overall. It’s one of the things I most look forward to everyday.

Do not disturb.

There are times throughout the day when my phone is on do not disturb. I have it on when I’m sleeping, when I’m enjoying time to myself, and in these moments when I am just trying to find peace. Not being able to see the notifications and get phone calls and messages really helps me keep my mind focused just on myself in that present moment. I’m not worried about anyone else. I’m not thinking about what’s going on with the rest of the world. I’m just giving myself that time to think about myself and focus on my own thoughts.

Just breathe.

Sometimes it helps me to just stop and take a few breaths. I’m not really into meditation or yoga or anything, but I know that really helps some people. For me it’s just about taking a few moments to just breathe. When I sit and focus on my breathing I’m not worrying about anything, I’m not thinking about the things that are causing stress, and I’m not focused on anyone else. I’m just focusing on my breathing and making sure that I’m calm.

Start off slower.

When if comes to starting my day, I know it’s really important for me to start off with intention. When I wake up late, feel rushed, and feel like I’m already off to a bad start, it negatively affects the rest of my day. So I know I need to get up earlier so I can really take my time and make sure that I am able to get a slower start. This allows my brain and my body to really wake up and gives me time to have my own thoughts and take care of my own needs before I jump into taking care of what everyone else needs me to do.

Leave some white space.

One of the best ways to be intentional about slowing down and finding peace is to make sure that I am not overscheduling myself. The best way I have found to prevent this is to leave white space in my calendar. This is time where I don’t have to do anything, I don’t have to be anywhere, and I don’t have to focus on anything specific. It allows me to have some flexibility and I can use this time to do whatever I want to do.

Say no.

It’s difficult for me to say no sometimes because I know I want to be there for people as much as I can be. But I also know that if I never say no and I never have any free time, I won’t be able to find any peace. So I am learning how important it is for me to say no sometimes. I don’t say no all the time, just in the times when I’m really not able to do something or I know it’s not going to be beneficial for me to help in that moment. Sometimes I try to postpone and sometimes I just have to be honest with where I am and what I’m able to do.

Do one thing at a time.

It’s really easy at times to get overwhelmed and feel like everything needs to be done at once. But when it comes to finding peace and really slowing down, it’s truly best to just do one thing at a time. That’s why I think time blocking really helps me because I can only schedule one thing at a time for each hour of the day. I have to force myself to really prioritize the most important things and make sure I am doing the most important things. It helps keep me from feeling as flustered and overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done.

And those are my tips! These are things that have really helped me on my journey to finding more peace in my life.
