Hey guys! Welcome back. I’ve been talking about self care a lot recently and it’s because we are entering the busiest and most chaotic time of the year. With all the holidays, school going back, and the end of the year quickly approaching, it’s easy to get lost and overwhelmed sometimes. So I just want to make sure that I am providing as many tips and ideas that I can to help make this last bit of the year as smooth as possible. So today I wanted to share a few out-of-the-box self care ideas if all the usual ones you do aren’t as effective anymore.
Try a foot mask.
We all know about face masks and that they are a part of the usual, run-of-the-mill self care ideas that are thrown around. But have you ever tried a foot mask? It’s like a face mask, but for your feet. My feet are super dry and need a lot of love and care, so foot masks are really beneficial to me. They help get rid of all the dry skin and help my feet feel soft and smooth. It’s a great way to force yourself to relax also because it’s really hard to do anything when you have these masks on your feet. I mean it’s possible, but it’s best if you aren’t moving.
Listen to a podcast.
Music is great, but sometimes what I need is a podcast. I have a few favorites that I turn to when I need a pick me up or I’m feeling a bit lost. When nothing else seems to be working sometimes it’s just nice to listen to someone else. And there are so many podcasts that are now in video form so if you are like me and would prefer to watch someone if possible, there are so many options out there. It’s a great way to find some motivation or just have a good laugh depending on the podcast you choose to listen to or watch.
Walk it out.
Working out is a great form of self care, but sometimes I just don’t feel like it. Especially if I’m feeling really down and just don’t feel like doing a whole work out. So what I do instead is grab my headphones and walk across the street to the campus and just walk around. It’s really nice over there and no one bothers me. It’s just time for me to be alone with my thoughts and get in some movement without having to get too crazy. Walking is just easy and it’s natural and it’s one of my favorite things to do regardless of how I’m feeling.
This is one of my favorites because I think people sometimes underestimate how much of an impact coloring can have on you mentally. It’s really fun, it’s a great way to take your mind off of everything, and it’s just a very mindless activity. There are so many different adult coloring books out there as well so you can for sure find something that you really enjoy. Coloring is just one of those childhood activities that is also perfect for adulthood. It’s one thing that I turn to when I’m really feeling overwhelmed and need something to relax.
Take a nap!
Okay hear me out. I know a lot of people think napping is counterproductive and isn’t really helpful, but I really think it is. When it comes to me feeling super stressed or overwhelmed I know one of the best things I can do for myself is get some sleep. It’s a great way to get some extra rest and give myself a break. I’m not thinking about anything. I’m not working on anything. I’m really just sleeping. Not that you need a reason to take a nap ever, but if you really feel like you need something but can’t figure out what it is, it might be a nap!
And that’s it! Those are my ideas of things to try if you are in a self care rut. Hopefully there’s at least one thing on this list you can try next time you need an idea but feel like nothing is helping. Or maybe you can do one of these just for fun. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know in the comments what your favorite self care ideas are and which ones you enjoy the most. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
