Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are all having a great week. I’m so glad the week is almost over. It’s been a good one, but I am ready for another of rest. But today I wanted to talk about a few things that have changed my life, especially over the past year. I’ve been through some changes in the past couple of years and I am so thankful for all of them because they led me to where I am now and where I am going from here. And I wanted to share the biggest things that have stood out to me the most and that have completely changed everything for me.

Knowing myself completely.

I have spent the better part of the past year really getting to know myself. I have spent countless hours and days even diving into really learning everything about myself, even the bad things. I spent time learning the things that I’m good at, the things I want to work on, the bad habits I have, and the ways I want to continue to grow myself in the future. It’s helped me so much with following my heart and really getting to a place where I am happy and content with where I am right now and where I’m going. It’s also helped me make peace with the past.

Reading more books.

I have learned that one of the best ways to always keep growing is to keep reading. Reading is the best way to learn new knowledge and dive deeper into different subjects, worlds, and perspectives. Even reading fiction has a ton of really great benefits. Making the time to really allow myself to read and just spend time diving deeper into whatever it is has really helped open my mind and my perspective to so many things. It has given me a new understanding on the world and different people and places. It’s been really great.

Doing the thing.

There have been many times in my life where I avoided things I really wanted to do because I didn’t think I would be successful or I didn’t think it would really work out for me. It’s been hard because I feel like I’ve held myself back on so much and missed so many potential opportunities because I wasn’t leaning into my full potential and allowing myself to do any of the things I wanted to do. So I have really worked this past year to just do the thing, regardless of what it is and despite the fact that it may not work out the way I want it to.

Journaling.

I have talked about this many times now, but I started journaling at the beginning of this year. I was going strong up until around June and it hasn’t always been consistent since then, but I’m still working on it. Journaling has really helped me a whole lot though. I do guided journaling which is where I have a prompt or a question for the day and I spend time filling up the page with my answer. It’s been really helpful for me getting to know myself and sometimes it is a challenge because sometimes they aren’t the easiest of topics to think about.

Opening up to change.

Change is something that isn’t going away. It happens whether we like it or not. One of the best things I ever did for myself was opening myself up to it and not allowing it to scare me anymore. Change isn’t necessarily most people’s favorite things, but it is a necessary part of life. Otherwise we just be stuck always doing the same things. Change can be positive if you allow it to come in and trust the process. It’s not going to be easy, but nothing good ever is. I now see change as opportunity and potential and that really helps me.

Letting go.

Sometimes we have to let go of things even when it’s hard. We have to let go of people who hurt us. We have to let go of things we once loved. We have to accept apologies we will never get. We have to move on even when we are hurting. But I have really learned that letting go is so important because it allows you to move on. You feel more free and the weight is lifted off of you. Healing takes time, but it usually starts with letting go of whatever it was that hurt you in the first place, even if it’s a person in your life.

Life is hard. It has it’s ups and downs. But it’s so important to make sure that we are always pursuing our best selves and our brightest futures. And this year has really opened my eyes on my potential and where I can go from here. I hope the same for you. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know down below in the comments the things that have really changed your life for the better. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

I like how your list were abstract ideas rather than material things (besides books) but books are knowledge 📚 I agree that doing the thing will make you feel a lot better. I’ve had worse days because I didn’t do the thing that I needed to do, which ended up making me anxious because I was avoiding the thing. I call doing the thing “eating the frog”.
