Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are all having a great week. Today I wanted to talk about self care and more specifically what I do for self care. This is something that I have talked about before but as we head into the busiest time of the year, I feel it is important to reiterate a few things. And I wanted to start by sharing some of the things I do to make sure I am taking care of myself: body, mind, and soul. So here are the self care rituals that are fully integrated in my daily life.
Gratitude is such an important part of my daily life. I like to spend a few minutes everyday listing out all the things I’m grateful for that day. It has a big impact on my overall mood and how I feel heading into the rest of the day. Reminding myself of everything I have right now keeps me from spending too much time focusing on the things I don’t have. It’s a great way for me to reinforce that positive mindset.
Going for a walk.
Physically and mentally this is one of the best things I can do for myself. I love going on walks and just taking that opportunity to clear my head and recharge. It’s also a great way to get my steps in and get some fresh air. Even if it’s just a ten minute walk, it’s better than doing nothing at all. So I always strive to go on a little walk everyday and I even take Penny (my cat) with me sometimes so she can get some fresh air as well.
I have talked about journaling many times over the past several months, but in case anyone is new here I wanted to mention it again. Journaling has helped me really connect with myself and learn new things about myself this year. I started journaling back in January and everyday there is a new prompt or question for me to respond to. It has really helped me figure out some important decisions as well.
Do Not Disturb.
This year I have also learned the magical powers of the Do Not Disturb feature on my phone. Sometimes I think I use it too much. But it has helped me a great deal with not checking my phone as often and really getting some work done with minimal or no distractions. I also turn it on before I go to sleep so I’m not being woken up in the middle of the night by my phone. I get woken up by my cat instead.
Reading is great for many reasons. For starters, it’s a great way to learn new things and find new ways to grow and develop. It’s also a great form of entertainment that doesn’t involve watching TV (don’t get me wrong I’m not indifferent to TV either). Reading is just one of those things that adds so much value and that really doesn’t take away much from you. It’s a great way to invest in yourself.
And that’s it! Those are the self care rituals that I swear by and do most everyday. They keep me grounded and help me connect with myself. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know down below in the comments what your favorite self care rituals are. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
