Hey guys! Welcome back. Reading is something I have always loved, but it’s not something I always make the time for. I know this is a struggle many of us face and as I got back into reading this time around I decided to try to find some things that can help me stick to it and help me keep going. So today I wanted to share some of those tips with you in case you want to get back into reading but have trouble with staying consistent.

Know what you like.

No one loves every genre and every author. You don’t have to love fiction to read more. You don’t have to read every “classic” novel ever written. Everyone has preferences and that okay. Figure out what you do like and start reading more of those books. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s something you know you’re going to be interested in and want to keep going with. Don’t feel like you have to read everything to be a reader.

You can read shorter books.

Longer books are great if you are into that kind of thing, but as you get back into reading or start reading for fun for the first time, starting with some shorter books can help you ease into getting back into the swing of things. This was you don’t feel like you are over-committing yourself but you are still able to get some reading in. Even if you just start with reading short stories, it’s still reading and you are still staying consistent.

Find friends who also like to read.

Maybe there are people in your life already who like to read. Get with them and read books together so you can talk about them. They can help you stay accountable. If you don’t already have someone in your life who likes to read, this is a great opportunity to make a new friend. You can try meeting new people in libraries, book stores, coffee shops, or anywhere else that you think you might be able to find a reading buddy.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

You never know what’s on the inside of a book until you start reading it. So don’t knock it until you try it. There are so many great books out there and sometimes you just have to try it before you know if you like it. Also make sure you read more than just the first page before you get distracted and move on to something else. Some books start off slower than others but get really good after a chapter or two so it’s worth sticking around for.

You don’t have to finish every book.

One of the things that often gets us off track with reading is feeling like we have to finish a book that we start even if we don’t like it. And since we don’t like the book we don’t want to keep going because we don’t want to read it. If you find yourself in this situation just remember that if you don’t like the book and you know it won’t get better, it’s okay to move on to something else. Just read the things you enjoy and you can stick with it.

Reading should be fun and there’s something for everyone who wants to read. So just go out there and find what you love and go from there. Thank you so much for stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Let us know down below in the comments what your favorite tips for reading more are and what your favorite books are. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!
